There is quite a lot of discussion within the UX community about where the field is moving to in the future, and how designers can create engaging user experiences.
At this year’s UX Week (no, I didn’t get to go), user experience design guru and author, Jesse James Garrett, gave a good talk on this subject, and especially on engaging with users at an emotional level. It also overlapped nicely with some ideas that have been buzzing around in my head since Prof Pat Jordan‘s talk on inclusive design and “the four pleasures”, given in Cambridge earlier this year. Interesting stuff.

I’m not sure how directly relevant it is to us in the world of bioinformatics (yet), but it is a thoughtful, high-level view of the subject from an expert in the field.
At 40 minutes, though, you might want to get a cup of tea and a biscuit… !
